The most popular game in the world gets a spin
Tencent and Timi Studio have announced to work on an open-world spin-off to the most successful game of the world, Honor of Kings. Meinmmo summarizes all information for you.
What is this for a game? Honor of Kings has a long history associated with League of Legends. After the takeover of LOL developer Riot Games by Tencent, the Chinese publisher wanted to develop a mobile version of LOL.
Riot, however, refused, there was a lot of trouble between the studio and his bosses at Tencent. So Tencent instead developed the Lol-Clone Honor of Kings.
In Europe, the game Arena of Valor is called. However, during the European mobile offshoot failed, Honor of Kings today recorded the highest players at all.

The game recorded over 100 million active users per day last year (via dotesport.com). Even with revenue, it celebrated higher successes than, for example, the Gacha-MMO Genhin Impact, which has already taken tons of money.
On this success one would like to build now and the universe in the form of an open-world spin-offs with the simple name World on several platforms. Here you can watch the trailer:
AAA-OPEN-WORLD like Genshin Impact with controversial author?
We know that for the spin-off: Many details are not available at the game. It is certain that it gets an AAA budget and thus a lot of money is put into development.
WORLD is also developed by Timi Studio. On the official website, the studio also advocates to work on a game with LIFE service components and Open World (via Timi Studios), which addresses Chinese mythology. That fits very well with the scenes shown out of the trailer. There you can see a fight against a fiery monster, until suddenly a gigantic dragon bursts into the fight. Then we see a flying whale with two people sitting on top of a Chinese-looking city.
At the World Building and the story, the well-known Chinese novelist Liu Cixin should be involved, whose Sci-Fi novel The Three-Body problem is currently being adapted by Netflix.
However, because of its perspectives to internal camps in China and statements on the oppressed minority of Uighuren in criticism, the author stands for its perspectives. (via theguardian.com)
When should the game come and for which platforms it seems? That s not known yet. We only know that the spin-off should be published on multiple platforms worldwide.
What is this for a developer studio? Timi Studio is known for various mobile titles. In addition to Honor of Kings, the studio has popular titles such as Pokémon Unite and COD Mobile on the portfolio.
An Open World game would be something new in the history of the developer.
