The NFL will first organize an internationally combine in London. Start appointment is the 12th of October, as the league announced on Tuesday.

The invitation event should match the annual scouting combine, which has been held in Indianapolis in recent years, helping to find and evaluate potential talents for the NFL. Up to 50 athletes are selected and tested. Venue is the Tottenham Hotspur stage.

We are excited to align the International Combine in London next month, said Damani Leech, the NFL Chief Operating Officer of International in a statement: Through the event we hope to discover new talents, games more global attention to the game and to give the participants a chance to measure themselves at the highest level.

For the athletes it s about getting a place in the International Pathway Program. The said program was launched in 2017 and is intended to give international top athletes the opportunity to train on NFL levels to improve their skills and ultimately develop a place in an NFL squad. A well-known name from the program is approximately Fullback Jakob Johnson from German, who is currently playing Patriot s New England in his third season.

Following the International Combine, a certain number of athletes that have achieved specific performance standards invited to train for three months in the US as part of the International Pathway Program. The best from this program will then be assigned NFL teams for the 2022 season.

Other names from the program, which have made the jump to the NFL, are EFE Obada (UK / Buffalo Bills), Jordan Mailata (Australia / Philadelphia Eagles) and Sammi Reyes (Chile / Washington).

The event taking place excluding the public is the third of its kind. Previously, the NFL already organized similar International Combines in 2018 in Australia and 2019 in Germany. In addition, there will also be an event in Mexico this October for athletes, which were unable to travel to London due to travel restrictions.
